I have been making this non toxic stone cleaner for several months now and I really like it. It also costs less to make it yourself. The best part is knowing exactly what is in it, unlike many “natural” cleaners from the store that are marketed as safe, but really have many hidden chemicals in those “fragrance” labels on the back. Once I moved into my new house, I actually did research on which cleaners I should be using on my quartz and granite countertops. I am a big vinegar girl, but I know stone and woods do not get a long with it! So I save the vinegar for sinks, showers, toilets, and tile flooring but not countertops and wood floors. This recipe has rubbing alcohol in it as well, which give it an antibacterial quality. Obviously having that antibacterial element is especially important right now. I used an orange scented castile soap in this particular recipe, but you can change it to whatever you would like. My favorites are orange, lemon, and lavender. You can also use an unscented castile soap and put in a few drops of an essential oil you like! Personally I feel like citrus scents are great for kitchen countertops!! Check out my video below to see how easy it is to make.
Supplies
- spray bottle (I prefer glass since I try to avoid plastic in my house, but I have also used an old recycled bottle from cleaners I have bought before)
- 1/4 tsp. castile soap
- 2 Tbsp. rubbing alcohol
- 1.5 cups distilled water
Directions
- Add in castile soap and rubbing alcohol.
- Then top with distilled water and shake until incorporated.
