Immune Boosting Shot

Immune Boosting Shot

As the colder weather sets in so do the germs that make us all sick.  I was always a person who took the vitamin C packets whenever I could feel myself getting sick, but when I got pregnant for the first time my doctor advised me to stay away from those.  Since I have either been pregnant or nursing over the past three years, I have continued to stay away from them.  I needed to find a new drink or in this case, a shot, to help prevent sickness and boost my immune system.

The original recipe can be found here.  I do not use the Manuka honey since it is really expensive and we normally just have local honey on hand.

What makes it Immune Boosting?

  • fresh squeezed orange juice — naturally high in vitamin C
  • apple cider vinegar  — improves digestion & immunity
  • fresh ginger — soothes sore throats
  • turmeric — anti-inflammatory & antiviral
  • honey — antibacterial
  • cayenne — increases blood flow and speeds healing
